Tavares is a resident of Alexandria, Virginia. Tavares boasts an array of political, community development, advocacy, and legal experience.
Tavares is currently a Lawyer at Floyd Legal Services and Chief Executive Officer of the BeWell Project, an organization centered on ending systems that limit Black wellness and emphasizing the urgency of protecting folks living on the margins of the margins. Tavares is a tireless advocate with a pragmatic management style and entrepreneurial spirit. Tavares has a passion for and is experienced in the art of community and helping people.
Some of Tavares’ work includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Charles Houston Recreation Center, Living Legends of Alexandria, Commissioner with the City of Alexandria’s Commission on HIV/AIDS, Northern Virginia Urban League’s Young Professionals Network Executive Board, Director of Political Engagement ’18-’19, and a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Tavares has also been selected as a 2018 recipient of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s 40 under 40.
Tavares graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Christian Brothers University and from Southern University Law Center with a Juris Doctorate.
