Brenda M. Adams

Brenda Adams retired from the Federal Government with over 35 years of exemplary service. As a Federal employee, Adams held many supervisory, management and leadership positions in Federal budgeting and financial management. Upon retirement, Adams started her own management consulting business “Adams Consulting Services” and became a consultant to the Federal Government on matters pertaining to Federal budget and financial management processes. Earlier in her career path, Adams worked for the Alexandria Health Department, the Hopkins House Association, and the ALIVE Child Development Center. While a student at Howard University, Adams worked summers as an intern with the United States Air Force at the Pentagon.
Adams believes in giving back to her community by involvement in many volunteer and membership organizations that emphasize work with disadvantaged and underprivileged children, and on women’s issues. Adams currently serves on the Board of Directors of Concerned Citizens Network of Alexandria. Adams maintains active memberships on the Executive Committee of the Alexandria Branch of the NAACP; the Northern Virginia Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women; the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Continental Societies, Inc.; and the Fort Ward/Seminary African American Society. Adams is a past member of the Junior League of Northern Virginia and Blacks in Government. Adams has volunteered on past campaigns to elect Bill Euille for Mayor, Joyce Woodson for Alexandria City Council, John Chapman for Alexandria City Council, Gwendolyn Hubbard Lewis for Alexandria School Board, and Don Beyer for Congress. Adams is also the Campaign and on-going Treasurer for Alexandria City Councilman John Chapman. Adams, a fourth generation Alexandrian, is a product of Alexandria Catholic Schools (Saint Joseph and Blessed Sacrament Elementary Schools and Saint Mary’s Academy High School). Adams holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Howard University and completed some graduate school work at Virginia Tech’s Northern Virginia MBA Graduate Center.
